Things to Keep in Mind

The PraiseWorks Worship Team will lead in each of the morning services. Rehearsals will take place during the morning track times each day.

The PW Worship Team/Band is only open to students who have completed the 9th through 12th grades.

1. Prepare and rehearse your audition materials
2. Video your audition. You can use a camera or just the camera on your phone. Make sure we can see and hear everything!
3. Upload your video to  OR to Dropbox OR to Google Drive no later than Monday, June 24, 2024. If you don’t know how to do this, click HERE and we’ll give you instructions.
4. You are encouraged to set your video to “UNLISTED” so that only the judges with the link will be able to see your video.
5. Copy the video link to your video.
6. Complete the PW Audition Form by clicking the button at the bottom of this page. There is a place in the form to paste your VIDEO link.
7. If you have questions, please let us know using the contact form at the bottom of this page!
8. Remember, no auditions will be accepted after June 24, 2024.

Guidelines

As you are preparing for your video submission, please note the following guidelines. To be considered for the PW Worship Team, all students must conform to the following:

1. All auditions for the Student Band & Praise Team this year must be submitted via OR DropBox OR Google Drive link to this website. Deadline for submission is June 24, 2024. No submissions after June 24, 2024 will be accepted. There will be NO auditions during the week of camp.
2. The PraiseWorks Worship Team is only open to students who have completed the 9th through the 12th grades.
3.  Process
   1. Download a lead sheet for the audition song (Link above).
   2. Learn the song based on the original artist recording. Find YouTube and other streaming links above to their performance.
   3. You do not need to mimic the recordings above. Feel free to add your own creative flair to your audition performance.
   4. Play the original recording while you play or sing your part.
   5. Make sure your vocal or instrument is considerably louder than the original recording in your video. (Make a few test recordings until you are satisfied with the mix.)
   6. Record the song as many times as you like until you are satisfied with your submission, but don’t use any special effects to enhance your performance. Your video must comprise a single take. Don’t stop and start or edit your videos. Choose your best single full performance and submit it. A simple video where your voice or instrument is clearly heard will help us evaluate if you are ready to be a student worship leader at PraiseWorks.
4. The Content of your video must include the following:
   1. FEMALE SINGERS: You will shoot and submit two videos. For video #1, sing the lead on King of Kings. For video #2, sing as a praise team member, non-lead vocal, w/harmonies on This Is Our God. Sing along with the original recording. Shoot a video that shows you standing while singing. Fit your whole body–face, arms, legs, etc. in the shot. Show us what you look like leading worship.
   2. MALE SINGERS: You will shoot and submit two videos. For video #1, sing the lead on This Is Our God. For video #2, sing as a praise team member, non-lead vocal, w/harmonies on King of Kings. Sing along with the original recording. Fit your whole body–face, arms, legs, etc. in the shot. Show us what you look like leading worship.
   3. GUITARISTS: Play along with the original recording, matching the original acoustic or electric guitar part as closely as possible. Fit your entire guitar and both hands in the shot. No need to see your face or legs. Find LINKS above.
   4. BASSISTS: Play along with the original recording, matching the as closely as possible. Fit your entire bass and both hands in the shot. No need to see your face or legs. Here’s an example LINK.
   5. PIANISTS/KEYBOARDISTS: Play along with the original recording, matching the as closely as possible. Don’t worry if you cannot recreate the original synth sounds exactly or if you are playing a synth part on piano or vice-versa. Have a friend shoot the video over your head so we can see the entire keyboard and both of your hands during the entire song. Here’s an example LINK.
   6. DRUMMERS/PERCUSSIONISTS: Play along with the original recording, matching the as closely as possible. Have a friend shoot the video over your head so we can see the entire drum kit or percussion setup during the entire song. Here’s an example LINK.
5. Once you finish your video, upload it to YouTube (see the instructions above). Make sure you set your YouTube video to UNLISTED. Then copy the YouTube video link, and complete the Audition Form HERE. (You will paste the link to your video on the Audition Form).
6. Those people selected to be on the PW Worship Team will be notified before camp begins. Notification will come by text and/or email. You will receive PDF files for music and recordings or videos to use to prepare your parts. Because there is limited rehearsal time at PW, we expect that you will practice and learn your parts before camp.
7. Rehearsals will take place during the morning track times each day. This will take the place of any other track you might do in the morning slot.
8. Dress Code: Please follow the dress code guidelines for PraiseWorks during all rehearsals. We ask that the Worship Team not wear shorts during the morning worship celebrations. Remember, leading worship on the platform is an added responsibility and carries a higher standard.
